PITTSBURGH , Pa-.- July 7, 2010-- SHOP 'n SAVE, in partnership with the Hill House Economic Development Corporation, announced plans today to construct a new, full-service 29,500 square foot grocery store in the Hill District neighborhood of downtown Pittsburgh, Pa.
The state-of-the art supermarket owned and operated by Jeff Ross, will be located at the corner of Centre Avenue and Heldman Street and will feature a bakery, deli, meat and produce departments, prepared and frozen foods, dairy products, and health and beauty aids. Expanded customer service offerings will include money orders, postage and lottery. Pump Perks Gas Rewards with Sunoco, weekly specials and double coupons will all be made available to shoppers.
Owner, Jeff Ross currently operates four additional SHOP 'n SAVE stores in Western Pennsylvania - two in McKeesport, one in Connellsville and one in Mt. Pleasant. He expects the Pittsburgh store to bring up to 100 jobs to the region.
“It's a storied neighborhood with a lot of redevelopment right now, and we are excited to be part of its comeback,” Ross said of the Hill. “For the first time in more than 20 years, residents of this neighborhood will have the opportunity to buy fresh groceries at an affordable price within walking distance of their homes.”
The groundbreaking is expected to occur this fall, and officials plan to open the store by Thanksgiving 2011.
