New Perks Card registration gives shoppers points automatically at check out
Pittsburgh, PA – June 3, 2013 – As students excitedly count down the hours to summer break, educators across the region are already planning ways to engage students during the next school year. A digital update to SHOP ‘n SAVE’s Students Extra Education Development (S.E.E.D.) program is now making it even easier for family, friends and neighbors to get involved as well by bringing interactive assemblies to their local schools when they welcome students back this fall.
Through this update, shoppers from each independently owned and operated SHOP ‘n SAVE store simply need to register their SHOP ‘n SAVE Perks Cards online, and choose the school they’d like to receive their earnings toward an assembly. Instead of submitting receipts, shoppers can help their schools earn assemblies instantly with a swipe at the register.
“We are proud of the S.E.E.D. program and SHOP ‘n SAVE’s long-standing role in bringing fun and educational assemblies into our local schools,” said Rich Haeflein, Advertising Account Manager for SUPERVALU, which supplies the independently owned and operated SHOP ‘n SAVE stores. “We wanted to make it even easier for everyone in the community to play a part by bringing the program online and making it a seamless process to earn an assembly. This program is an integral part of SHOP ‘n SAVE’s continued efforts to serve local communities, bringing to life our belief that the greatest reward comes from helping others.”
Each time customers shop at their local SHOP ‘n SAVE with their Perks Card, they’ll not only earn their own fuel discounts and the exclusive savings available to card holders, but will also help their school earn an assembly. Purchases will be automatically added to the linked school’s total, contributing to the goal of $250 per student required to earn educational S.E.E.D. assemblies.
For more than 20 years, SHOP ‘n SAVE’s S.E.E.D. program has partnered with Carnegie Science Center, Carnegie Museum of Natural History and the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium to provide over 2.5 million students with hands-on assemblies. These presentations bring science, animals, the environment and more to life within more than 500 public and private schools each year throughout Western Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.
